It was so nice to see our Aussie mate Midge when he came over to visit us! Great fun catching up and having a few good laughs :-) We checked out the beautiful Christmas decorations around town too...
Midge, Bec, and Martin in our apartment
Some Christmas piccies from around town (unfortunately not the best quality with the iphone, but we forgot to take our camera out!)
It was so cold the fountain had frozen! Check out the massive chunk of ice Midge pulled up from the frozen water... cold hands!
Another day of snow and more fascinating things to be seen... watching the people wobble through the snow on their bikes with great concentration over their faces. Putting the wine outside to cool down and then trying to remember to bring it in in time before it freezes. Being amazed at the huge icicles dangling off the cars, roofs, street lamps (and sneakily snapping them off when they are in reach and 'collecting' them). Chuckling at the toddlers sitting straight up like they're king of the world on their brightly coloured plastic sleds, as their tired looking parents haul them through the mounds of snow...
A real Christmas tree!
View from our balcony
Our local farmers market (note cute little person being dragged around the market in sled)
Wine cooler
No sun and waves near this lighthouse ;-)
Collecting icicles from the cars
Stalactites and Stalagmites (or are they icicles?)
It's snowing in Malmö! Everything seems so beautiful, white, bright, and silent :-) The softness of freshly fallen powdered snow. The cute kids wobbling along in their puffy snow gear, sometimes look as wide as they are tall. Learning fast not to breathe in too hard when I walk while it is snowing- it is easy to briefly 'choke' on snowflakes as they sneak down your mouth the wrong way! The babies swaddled up in special sleeping bags that hook directly into their prams. Putting on the funny blue plastic 'hospital shoe covers' over my wet gumboots when I get to the gym. It's a whole new world!
Well it was pretty special to be back in Sweden again together, after first meeting here seven years ago. Seven years ago at this time it was a dark rainy day, but today the sun was shining for us, as we crunched through the Autumn leaves on our way to a yummy asian vegetarian buffet. It was great to see the brilliant Autumn colours shining under the bright blue sky...
Walking through Folkets Park about 5 mins from our apartment
The same path we used to walk along 7 years ago when Martin would walk with me back to my student dorm
