Getting Sweaty in Chinatown

Speeding along the river in the water taxi... rickety shacks, humongous elaborate hotels, glistening temples, longboats, tiny dingys - Bangkok a city of contrast.

Even though the air seemed freshest on the river, we occasionally had to cover our mouths with a tissue to try to filter the fumes.

Embarking at the central pier we caught the Skytrain and metro into Chinatown and got a view from above of Bangkok . Jostling down the tiny alley markets, Martin still had a good view from above and Bec had no worries about losing sight of Martin in the crowd.

Turning the corner we came across a big white and gold temple that holds the holds the most expensive religious artefact in the world, weighing 5.5 tonnes - a Golden Buddha.

  2. It is great being able to see above the crowd isn't it. The average height in Thailand means sometimes even i can do that.

On pollution. Sure sometimes if you're standing behind a tuk tuk it doesn't smell great but Bkk deserves kudos for what they've done over the last decade. pollution levels are down to half what they were a decade ago before Skytrain and other iniatives. The WHO rates pollution levels in Bangkok (including particulates and gases) as less than Paris and only a smidge higher than Melbourne. Perhaps you were there on some particularly stinky days.

  3. Buenas!

Seems like youre having a ball- Thailand is great fun...not to mention the food...yummie!

We are not doing to bad in Argentina either. The food here is excellent, weather is pleasant and the wines are top-class. For the first time I´ve been riding a horse(you believe that bro? Ive got evidence!) which actually was great fun. Right now were in Mendoza, which is the wine capital with a lovely setting right next to the Andes.

Hope you have a safeand nice trip and see you soon!
