Chilling in Chiang Mai

Step onto the plane in Bangkok – one hour later, step off in Chiang Mai and chauffeured to our guest house by a smiling man in a BMW- nice!

After the intensity and pollution of Bangkok, the slower pace of life in Chiang Mai is a wonderful contrast. Stepping under the archway into our guest house, we were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink, lots of smiles, luscious tropical ferns, a peaceful waterfall – all in a beautiful rustic setting. Everything at Pak Chiang Mai is made of organic materials, from the furniture to the food.

We set out for a quick bite to eat, and found ourselves wandering around for several hours, admiring just a few of the 312 temples in Chiang Mai. It was interesting to see "living" temples and the monks going about their daily lives, compared to the more touristy temples in Bangkok.
